St. Petersburg, Florida - From Hudson to Temple Terrace to St. Pete, an elusive monkey has been on the run from authorities for more than a year and a half.
The search for the monkey has garnered the national spotlight. Even the primate's Facebook page boasts some 75,000 friends.
That's 50,000 more friends than Evan Longoria, in case you were wondering.
Now, GTE Federal Credit Union is trying to capitalize on the monkey's online fame with a contest.
According to the contest rules, contestants first have to become Facebook friends with GTE FCU.
For four weeks, GTE FCU will post two clues a week. The clues are pictures taken at different locations in Tampa Bay. Contestants have to guess where the pictures were taken.
The first person to correctly guess all four clues and put them in an online tour log wins $1,500 cash. The winner does not have to join GTE FCU to win the money.
"The monkey's become sort of an urban legend... and we wanted to capitalize on his popularity on Facebook," said GTE FCU Senior Vice President of Marketing Doug Richardson.
If no one wins the contest, GTE FCU will donate $1,500 to the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary.
The contest ends July 8th.
